Goldblatt & Singer Banner

An important message from Jeffrey Singer:

Dear Member of the G + S Community,

We at Goldblatt + Singer understand that the stress of the coronavirus pandemic can feel overwhelming. In addition to the serious concerns we all have about our health, there is significant added stress regarding job and financial security. As we head into the summer, we can all agree that adapting to the “new normal” has been frustrating, frightening, and challenging. As unsettling as these times are, we are in this together and can find strength and support in our communities.

Please take comfort in knowing that those of you who are also dealing with an accident or injury have a team of dedicated attorneys and staff still working on your claims as hard as ever. We are doing our job to protect your interests so you can focus on your job of keeping yourself and your families safe and healthy.

We at Goldblatt + Singer are here for you.

ZANTAC – WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Zantac is a widely used heartburn medication that was considered safe enough to be sold over the counter. Recently, multiple studies have found that Zantac contains a dangerous cancer-causing chemical. This discovery has led to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation and subsequent recall of Zantac and generic versions of the drug (Ranitidine).

Since reaching the market in 1981, Zantac has been widely used to treat conditions such as acid reflux, heartburn, and ulcers. The drug is frequently prescribed by healthcare providers but is also available as an over the counter medication.

A study performed by online pharmacy Valisure in September of 2019 found that Zantac and its generic equivalent Ranitidine were tainted with an unsafe level of the cancer-causing chemical NDMA.

We are deeply troubled that a drug trusted by millions of patients was tainted and could cause cancer. If you or a family member have taken Zantac and have been diagnosed with cancer, our attorneys offer a free consultation and are prepared to file lawsuits on your behalf. SAFETY FIRST – KIDS & COMPUTERS

With kids spending more time online and less time playing with their friends outside, online use is rampant! Here are some quick tips to keep your kids safe:

  • Clear boundaries are good boundaries. Clarity helps children understand their boundaries and how to successfully operate within them. Create limits that make sense for your child and your family; this might include screen-time limits, what platforms are accessible, and where or when they may be accessed.
  • Check account settings regularly. Once your child has set up a social media account, it’s important to remain vigilant about keeping their account settings private and updated, which will allow their shared content to be seen by friends and away from people who may abuse it. Social media sites are constantly adding security features to maximize protection, but these features may need to be updated manually—check for updates regularly.
  • Help create a reliable password. Learning to create an effective password is an important step toward online safety. More importantly, if your child’s behavior signals concern, you’ll want immediate access to their social media accounts without having to ask for the password. Any time your child changes their password, you should know.
  • Talk to your kids about posting personal information, photos, and video. It’s important that children learn that their actions online can have real-world consequences. Seemingly innocent information, like where they go to school, can be used to pinpoint their location, potentially aiding online predators. What’s more, content posted online doesn’t just disappear. Make sure they consider how pictures and video content present themselves and others—if it’s not in a positive light, it’s best not to post it.

You cannot monitor your child’s social media activity 24/7, so maintaining a strong line of communication is important to understand what’s going on with your child online.
