Tom Gatheman is a personal injury attorney at Goldblatt + Singer who is dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals harmed by negligence. Licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois, Tom brings a well-rounded perspective to his work, shaped by experience on both sides of the courtroom.
Before advocating for injured individuals, Tom represented insurance companies in car accident cases as part of an in-house defense team. That experience gave him a clear understanding of how insurers evaluate claims, manage risk, and attempt to limit payouts – insight he now uses strategically to level the playing field for his clients.
Tom earned his undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University and his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Early in his career, he served as a public defender in Marion County, Illinois, handling criminal, family, and general practice matters. Trying cases early and often solidified his confidence in the courtroom and reinforced his belief that strong advocacy can meaningfully change outcomes.
At Goldblatt + Singer, Tom is known for his practical approach, preparation, and determination. He treats every case as a problem to be solved, using experience, strategy, and persistence to pursue fair and full compensation. Having personally navigated the injury claims process himself, Tom brings added empathy and perspective to his client relationships, understanding firsthand the physical, emotional, and logistical challenges injured people face.
A lifelong St. Louis native, Tom is proud to serve the community he calls home. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, staying active through playing on an in-line hockey team, and restoring his historic home – projects that reflect the same patience and follow-through he brings to Goldblatt + Singer.
