Missouri DOT to Close N-Route 141 at I-70 for Repairs

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is shutting down the northbound lanes of Route 141 at Interstate 70 this weekend in order to make repairs to the I-70 bridge.

According to the release, (as reported in a previously published article on ksdk.com) “MoDOT will close northbound lanes of Route 141/Earth City Expressway at I-70, eastbound I-70 to northbound Earth City and southbound Earth City Expressway to eastbound I-70, starting Friday at 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday.”

One of the primary reasons for these repairs is a truck accident that took place on the bridge this past June. The truck collided with the bridge over Earth City Expressway, causing the bridge to sustain some damage. MoDOT suggests that drivers use alternate routes to Route 141 such as Route 364 or St. Charles Rock Road.

Just within the past month, there have been numerous accidents on the I-70 in St. Louis County. Thankfully, most of these accidents were reported as “no injury” or “minor injury.” For example, on August 13th the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that an accident occurred on the I-70 eastbound in St. Louis. A driver sideswiped another vehicle because he failed to maintain a single lane. The impact caused the vehicle to run off the interstate. The accident resulted in minor injuries.

Accidents on Interstate 70 are not uncommon. Most of them are caused by driver negligence and failure to adhere to traffic laws. Some, however, can be caused by road defects. Victims of these types of accidents can bring lawsuits against whoever maintains the road, highway, or interstate.

Municipalities and state governments deal with these types of accusations all the time. Many St. Lous car crash lawyers are afraid to file these types of lawsuits because of the difficulty of the opposition. At Fox Goldblatt & Singer PC, our St. Louis personal injury attorneys are not afraid and will go to whatever lengths necessary to get accident victims the compensation they deserve. We will hold the at-fault party accountable for their actions, even if that means lawsuits against a city or state transportation agency.
